The Fourth

I'm twenty minutes short of my 11 hour workout week, having put in an hour of my elastic band workout and stretching, plus a little pseudo-slideboard workout, so a nice, gentle cap on a pretty intense week, both work-wise and workout-wise, on top of a rather crummy cold which seems to be going around. I'll probably do some more stretching tomorrow to finish up the week.

I'm now watching some recorded Olympic trials and getting ready to eat a lot of ribs and celebrating the violent birth of a savage country. Last year I found a bullet in the parking lot the day after the fourth, so I will be indoors well before my neighbors begin shooting at each other. Which I grant is their constitutional right. May their aim be true.

I bike commuted four days this week, which is 11.5 miles each way and I count as a two hour workout. It's really about 45 minutes there and an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes home, but close enough. Next week is my rest week in which I'll do about 5.5 hours for the week, probably a good run, a good swim and one bike commute. The week after I'll start knocking out some longer bike rides, starting with a thirty miler and increasing from there.

I may be short-changing my training time, but on the other hand, this is the furthest into a training cycle with no knee pain, so if my race performance is no worse, then I'll take it.  And my true key race isn't until September '09, whether that's the Wisconsin Ironman or the Grand Columbian again if I don't get registered in time for Wisconsin.
